Hello 2017!

Brother Sewing MachineWhew, what a busy year! There have been so many exciting changes and things happening at A Line Fabrics this year. Not to mention all the beautiful fabric collections and patterns released. With so many great choices it made picking a favorite that much more difficult. If you tried to set a fabric budget I hope you were successful.  I wasn’t *sigh! Good thing 2017 is right around the corner so I have another chance. I definitely spent more on fabric and patterns this year than I have ever – this is what happens when your eyes are bigger than the time available for actual sewing. So I have decided that my new year’s resolution for 2017 (which I never make btw) will be to make more time for sewing by creating a 52 Week Sewing Challenge. Your projects can be as easy or difficult as you decide but let’s challenge ourselves to try something new and build our skill level. Deal?

This challenge is supposed to be fun and designed to motivate me and hopefully, all of you to create and share new sewing projects throughout the year. I figured it would also force me to put all those lovely fabrics and patterns to good use, plus I need the space for more fabric. I also have a handful of vintage patterns I’m itching to use, thank you Mad Men! I’m determined to start and finish one new sewing project a week. My goal is to keep the challenge manageable and stress free so I avoided the “new project a day” approach which I am bound to fail, first week excluded.

I would love to have all of you join me each week to share what’s on your list, along with your finished projects. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a more skilled seamstress. The more the merrier. We are here to encourage and motivate, and share some of our frustrations.

I have to admit my first week is looking pretty ambitious right now. Only because I’ve already cut my patterns and decided on my fabrics a week ago. Either way I’ll take advantage of this sewing high while it lasts! How did you make out this year?

Here’s my list to get started in 2017…

Week 1:

  1. Blouse – Pattern B5997 view D in a delicate voile fabric

  2. Clutch

  3. Skirt

That’s all for now! As great as 2016 was, I’m ready for the new year and to see where it takes us! Feel free to share this post with anyone looking for a little motivation and encouragement.

Happy New Year from A Line Fabrics!!
