It’s Monday morning and this dress and I have had one heck of a weekend. After several issues with the pattern itself which cut into my precious sewing time and patience **deep breathing and lots of it** The more serious issues I ran into with this particular pattern was the size was completely off. I cut a size 8 thinking I wanted to go a size up but with all the darts and shaping the dress required. I had to add more fabric just to cover my backside – this would have made a lovely apron if that’s what I was going for. I also added a zipper which I am now rethinking. My plan is to shorten the zipper and cut the upper portion to show a little skin and add a hook and eye closure.
I’m happy to report the dress minus a couple of last-minute changes is finished! I managed to remember to snap a few pictures along the way but it is not easy trying to take pictures and sew at the same time. Overall, the dress came out well. I’m sure I’ll use the pattern again but I now know to add in additional fabric. I’ll add that to the list of skills to develop this year. Overall, the dress came out well. How do you like working with Simplicity patterns? How did your weekend projects go?
What are you working on this week? I’ll be working on my blouse (technically, I’m still on schedule) since I wasn’t able to get to it. I’ll post a status update of that project later this week.
