Sewing Challenge: Floral Bomber Jacket

Happy Monday! I am very excited to show you last weeks challenge project – the Floral Bomber Jacket. I have to tell you I am in love with how this turned out and the pattern itself was almost too easy!

Wristbands, Waistband, and Collar

For my first jacket – pattern M7100, I was surprised by how easy it came together and was able to attach the sleeves with ease. The pattern instructions were easy to follow – thank you McCalls!!

There were a few firsts for me completing this jacket. I never added pockets, a separating zipper or welts before. So it was great practice and not as intimidating at all **sigh of relief!

Ready to add the separating zipper

As I pointed out to a member of one of the Facebook groups I belong to…I tend to lay my fabric and projects out on the floor because I’m height challenged and it’s easier for me to manage. As I said before I thought overall the construction of this jacket was very easy and the fit is perfect. I cut a size medium and didn’t make any adjustments.

Oh, I almost forgot the best part – I used Salon Fleur (Black). It was easy to sew and looks absolutely beautiful, I’m definitely ready for spring!

What do you think? I am going to use this pattern alot. I am already thinking about which fabric to use next. I also planned to add a lining and an inside pocket; using the bagged method, I just haven’t started sewing it yet.

What are you planning for the remainder of the month? What did you start or finish last week? I am currently finishing some doll clothes for my 7 year old – way more work than the jacket 😁

Until next time…
